There will be two categories in this year's edition:
1. Crafts Products
2. Crafts Initiatives



Category for Crafts Products
This category recognises those products which are innovative and creative.

Eligibility
This category is open for crafts products which were produced in Malta by crafts persons, individually or in groups, and who are residents of Malta. This category is also open to students and apprentices.

Conditions
1. Applications may be submitted by a crafts person, by an organisation or by a business (from now on referred to as the Applicant).
2. Only one crafts product (from now on referred to as the Product) may be presented in each application and each Applicant cannot submit     more than one application in this category.
3. The Product can consist of a number of pieces that make up a set (but not a range of the same product).
4. The Product being presented must have been produced by the Applicant in the two years immediately preceding the date of the competition (in the case of this year’s competition, these will be 2010 and 2011). Each winning Product cannot be presented in the competitions of the
following years.
5. With each application, the Applicant is requested to attach a maximum of three (3) photos of the Product submitted for the competition. The Commerce Department reserves the right to retain one (1) of the photographs.
6. The Applicant agrees to present the Product for exhibition during the whole of the selection process as shall be requested by the Selection Committee. For this purpose, the Applicant must provide the dimensions of the Product and must also give it (the Product) a title.
7. If the Product cannot be presented for exhibition, the Applicant should explain why this is not possible and this will be considered by the Selection Committee. In the case where the Selection Committee considers that the reason is not valid, the relevant application will not be eligible. In the case where the Selection Committee considers the reason as being valid, the Selection Committee reserves the right to view the Product on site.
8. The Commerce Department reserves the right to take photographs of the Product submitted for the competition for promotional purposes.
9. The Product submitted for exhibition along with two (2) of the photographs will be returned to the Applicant immediately after the closure of the competition.
10. Late applications will not be considered.
11. The decisions taken by the Selection Committee will be considered as final.

Category for Crafts Initiatives
This category recognises those initiatives which excelled in the teaching, researching, promotion or sales of Maltese Crafts. It is subdivided into three subcategories:


Subcategory A:    Teaching and Research
This subcategory is open for individuals, institutions or businesses who teach or do research about Maltese Crafts.

Subcategory B:    Awareness Raising and Promotion of Maltese Crafts

This subcategory is open for individuals, institutions or businesses who raise awareness and who promote Maltese Crafts.

Subcategory C:    Sales of Maltese Crafts
This subcategory is open for businesses which sell crafts products manufactured by crafts persons who are residents of Malta. Businesses which also sell their own products are eligible. Businesses which sell only their own crafts products are not eligible.
